Aircraft Grade Aluminum Sheet Plate is not an exact aluminum alloy, but refers to all aluminum alloys that can meet Aircraft Grade.
Due to the relatively high requirements for weight reduction and strength in the use of aerospace materials, aluminum alloys have become the best choice.

As aircraft aluminum, commonly used alloy models are 2024 aluminum alloy, 5052 aluminum alloy, 6061 aluminum alloy, 7075 aluminum alloy, etc.
2024 alloy T3 Aluminum Sheet | This is the most common of the high-strength aluminum alloys. It is of high-grade aircraft quality. The 2024-T3 aluminum sheet is thought of as an aircraft alloy because of its strength and it also has excellent fatigue resistance. Welding is generally not recommended. Typical uses for 2024-T3 Alclad aluminum sheet are fuselage and wing skins, cowls, aircraft structures, and also for repair and restoration because of its shiny finish (2024-T3 Alclad). |
5052 H32 Aluminum Sheet | This one has the highest strength in the NON-heatable alloy series. It is not structural. 5052 aluminum sheet has higher fatigue strength than most alloys. 5052 aluminum sheet has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine applications, and has excellent workability. 5052 aluminum sheet is commonly used to build fuel tanks. |
6061 T6 Aluminum Sheet | This alloy has very good corrosion resistance and finishing ability, welding goes without any problems too. The strength level of 6061-T6 aluminum sheet is about that of mild steel. 6061-T6 aluminum sheet can be fabricated by most of the commonly used techniques. Typical uses are aircraft landing mats, truck bodies and frames, structural components, and more. |
7075 Aluminum Sheet – Aluminum sheet for aircraft structural parts | Aircraft manufacturers use high-strength alloys (principally alloy 7075) to strengthen aluminum aircraft structures. Aluminum alloy 7075 has Copper (1.6 %), Magnesium (2.5 %) and zinc (5.6 %) added for ultimate strength, but the copper content makes it very difficult to weld. On the other hand it anodizes really beautifully. 7075 has the best machinability and it will result in a very nice finish. |

6061-O temper has maximum ultimate tensile strength no more than 150 MPa, maximum yield strength no more than 80MPa and elongation of 10–18%.
6061-T4 temper has maximum ultimate tensile strength no more than 180 MPa, maximum yield strength no more than 110 MPa and elongation of 10–16%.
6061-T6 temper has maximum ultimate tensile strength of at least 290 MPa, maximum yield strength of at least 240 MPa that is higher than certain types of stainless steel.
Because of its corrosion resistance and light weight, it is often used for aircraft interior parts and aircraft container.
It is also an economical choice for the ultralight aircraft emphasizing safety, economy and comfort. Ultralight aircraft usually refers to a small general-purpose aircraft driven by a propeller, with a crew of no more than 2 people, and a maximum take-off weight of no more than 480kg. Most of them are made of aluminum alloy, nylon cloth, balsa wood, hard foam and other materials, and then can fly with a small engine of dozens of horsepower.
Alloy 7075 aluminum plates are the outstanding member of the 7xxx series and remains the baseline among the highest strength alloys available. Zinc is the primary alloying element giving it strength comparable to steel. Temper T651 possesses good fatigue strength, fair machinability, resistance welding and corrosion resistance ratings.
7075 aluminum alloy is one of the strongest aluminum alloys available, making it valuable in high-stress situations. Its high yield strength (>500 MPa) and its low density make the material a fit for applications such as aircraft parts or parts subject to heavy wear. While it is less corrosion resistant than other alloys (such as 5083 aluminum alloy, which is exceptionally resistant to corrosion), its strength more than justifies the downsides.
