Ga. is the abbreviation of GAUGE, a length measurement unit of diameter originating in North America, belonging to the Brown & Sharpe measurement system. At the beginning of 1869, J.R. Brown and L. Sharp of the United States sold the outer micrometer developed for commercial sale, and initially established the measurement system. Originally used in medicine and jewelry, the larger the number, the smaller the diameter, and it was later popularized to indicate thickness.
