  • 1. The role of magnesium (Mg) element: Mg and Si in Si metal first generate AlFeSi, AlFe (Mn) Si, and the rest generate Mg 2Si, and there is still extra time to generate free silicon (Si), but if silicon (Si ) Insufficient magnesium ( Mg ) produces excess time Mg 2Al 3 . The weight ratio of Mg and Si in Mg 2Si is Mg: Si=(2×24.3)/28.1=1.73; 24.3 is the atomic weight of magnesium; 28.1 is the atomic weight of silicon. The weight ratio of (Fe Mn) and Si in AlFe (Mn)Si is (Fe Mn): Si=55.8 55/28.1=3.94 ≈4; where 55.8 55. The atomic weight of iron is the atomic weight of manganese. Therefore, the amount of silicon (Si) that actually generates Mg 2Si is total Si-0.25 (Fe Mn), which is why the content of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) should be controlled in the ingredients.

  • 3. Copper (Cu) function: very little copper is dissolved in the matrix, and the precipitate during aging is small, preventing adverse effects caused by waiting before aging; a large amount of copper will form CuAl 2 phase; many times it becomes Al -Cu-Mg-Si alloy (hard aluminum).
  • 4. Chromium (Cr) function: it is beneficial to improve the tensile strength and forming, and refine the grain.
  • 5. Iron (Fe) function: not more than 0.15%, otherwise the surface will turn gray after oxidation.
